No Pastel is a new project taking the idea of the producer being the artist, but instead of releasing house or techno music in a more typical fashion, No Pastel is more of a nostalgic type of project. With influences from Tears for Fears, Eurythmics and Phil Colins the result is a dreamy 80:s inspired sound with lots of airy arpeggios, tom fills and stuttering bass. However, No Pastel is not only looking backwards. The productions are equally inspired by a lot of modern productions where the heavy bas tones aren’t compromised. The sound is thick, clear and texturized using the nostalgia as a guide but the tools of modern producers to get there.
No Pastels first release is a feature with the folk/indie-artist Mary Mi who earlier this year released the EP 019/18. Her voice in Try This Again is clear and vulnerable singing about how bad choices led to love that never shed its blossoms. Try This Again is the perfect combination of folk melodies in a dreamy nostalgic landscape where the tom fills live on forever.#Dreamwave #Retrowave #Synthpop
