Com Truise is the artistic name of Seth Haley, an American electronic/synthwave musician and performer originally from Oneida, New York. The name is a spoonerism of Tom Cruise. Formerly an art director, he turned in his resignation prior to his first release as Com Truise. Before that, Haley was a DnB DJ until he started to use the 1980s style that he is actually today widely known for.
Com Truise’s synthesizer-heavy production work, in line with 1980s musical styles, was in the beginning available on the Cyanide Sisters EP, which has been initially a free download from the AMDISCS label and also was reissued digitally by Ghostly International. A remix of his showed up on the Tron: Legacy Reconfigured album right after. In June 2011 he published his first full-length album, Galactic Melt.
The New York-born, New Jersey-based producer created electronic songs under numerous pseudonyms before establishing himself as Com Truise, an outlet for his “slow-motion funk” — warped, bass-heavy music that is sludgy however leavened with bright synthesiser melodies. His very first release was the 2010 EP Cyanide Sisters, released digitally via AMDISCS. Ghostly International gave it an appropriate release in January 2011 and included four tunes. 2 months later, Ghostly issued Haley’s Fairlight, a three-track virtual release, which acted as a teaser for the full-length Galactic Melt. When the album arrived on the scene in June 2011, Haley had remixed various artists, such as Neon Indian (“Sleep Paralysist”), Twin Shadow (“Castles in the Snow”), and Daft Punk (“Encom, Pt. 2”). The download-only In Decay, a collection of earlier unreleased music, came out by Ghostly in July 2012. A few weeks later, he was part of Adult Swim’s Singles Program with the download-only Single “Chemical Legs.” After a fistful of remixes, which include work with Sally Shapiro (“What Can I Do”) and Bloodgroup (“Mysteries Undone”), Wave 1, yet an additional vibrant EP, was released on Ghostly in February 2014. In Decay got a vinyl release soon after during the year. Com Truise came back in 2016 with a fresh EP, Silicon Tare.#Chillwave #Chipwave #Cybersynth #Dreamwave #Space Synth #Synthwave
